My client is a privately-held technology company with a global headquarters and state-of-the art ophthalmological research and manufacturing facility in Oxfordshire. Due to expansion they are looking for an experienced Process Engineering Manager.

Reporting to Programme Director, you will be leading the companies design capability. The Process Engineering Manager will lead and direct the companies Innovations Variable Power Optics (VPO) fluid manufacturing process technology. Working closely with the Optical Technology and Design Engineering teams, the role requires the specification of new and development of existing processes.

This role will not suit a sedentary manager and requires an individual that has drive, passion and a hands on/ lead by example approach.
The position requires you to have a broad knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, and the suppliers of equipment to deliver these.
The process challenge will require working with precision components and processes to tight tolerances in a clean room environment.
You will be expected to manage a small team of engineers and to lead process characterization in parallel with engineering concept design, and then to specify, procure and modify process equipment.


Experience
•BSc or equivalent in engineering or another relevant sciences subject
•8 years in high-tech multidisciplinary working environments.
•An experienced hand on engineer
•Leadership experience.
•Sourcing and management of production tooling and equipment suppliers
•Experience in the production of high tolerance precision devices e.g. medical devices, consumer electronics, optical systems or small electro-mechanical devices.
•Knowledge of adhesives, ultrasonic welding, laser cutting, fluid handling, thin-film coating and handling of small components.
•Available for limited long-haul international travel – potentially USA, SE Asia•
