Senior Scientist Microbiology
My client is a leading pharmaceutical company focusing on developing live biotherapeutic products from the human gut microbiome. So far, my client has two clinical stage programmes in IBS and IBD as well as a strong pipeline of pre-clinical programmes in autoimmunity, inflammation, oncology and CNS disease.
Due to recent expansion, my client is looking for a Senior Microbiologist to join an established and diverse R&D team. You will be responsible for carrying out high-throughput and secondary screening of the company’s strain library to identify candidate LBPs capable of modulating host-microbe interactions.
As a senior scientist you will be expected to propose new screening strategies and introduce and validate new screening approaches/methods to keep the company on the cutting edge of their sector.
You will have:
PhD Degree in Microbiology or another relevant subject with expertise in human gut biology or immunology and at least 5 years post-doctoral experience (both relevant industry and academia will be considered)
Experienced in microbiology techniques especially in the cultivation of anaerobic microbes.
Experience with cell culture techniques.
Experience in a range of screening assays relevant to host-microbe interactions.
Expertise in running anaerobic bioreactors and in the techniques used to monitor microbial community composition.
Experience with biofilm-related techniques- total biomass, viability and susceptibility testing.
Experience in immunological assays
Salary- up to £40,000 (dependant on experience)
