I am currently recruiting for a company based in Oxford, and they are looking for a Computational Biologist with a flair for AI/ML.

Having two sides to this business, they have the product side which builds digital health products / systems to help provide early detection / provide self-management help for patients. Then they have the other side, where the NHS provides them with anonymised patient data so they can use this for research purposes.

They are building AI into these databases to be able to answer questions for large pharmaceutical companies, so that they can improve drugs and discover new medicines based on real patient data.

***What the Computational Biologist will do***

I am looking for a highly-motivated Senior Data Scientist/Bioinformatician to lead projects that will develop and deliver cutting edge therapies and biomarkers to benefit patients

+ The ideal candidate must demonstrate proven experience in leading independent research projects at the interface between biology, informatics, genetics and/or medicine
+ position requires combining an in-depth understanding of biological sciences with computational techniques in statistics and mathematics, and the ability to identify novel research opportunities and carrying them out independently and successfully
+ Develop, maintain, and utilize cutting-edge pipelines for the processing and analysis of high-throughput data to drive biological insights
+ Integrate ‘omics data and collaboratively leverage large-scale data mining of public and private resources to support biomarker and target discovery aims


***What the Computational Biologist need***

+ Proficient in SQL, R and Python is a prerequisite, and demonstrated Linux/Unix scripting competency.
+ Demonstrated strong knowledge of NGS analysis & Statistics/ Data Modelling
+ Ph.D. and/or M.Sc. in a biology, genetics or a computer science field
+ Experience within open source development environments
