QC Biological Services Manager

The Client
My client is a fast-growing biopharmaceuticals company based in the South-West of England.

Experts in developmental production and the bringing to market of biologicals, my client have decades of experience in production, characterisation, process and analytical validation of life saving biopharmaceuticals, including the Anthrax Vaccine.

The Role

Taking on the mantle of QC Biological Services Manager will see you reporting directly to the Head of Quality.

You will be charged with securing the delivery of reduced timescales for more public health interventions as well as a reduction in regulatory hurdles for the development and release of existing and new products.

You will work to secure the successful delivery of targets and objectives defined and agreed with line management as well as providing specialist advice and representation for the company during regulatory and customer audits.


• Work with other managers within the Quality team to ensure that manufacturing and quality activities are performed in compliance with all the regulations and other requirements including: The Rules & Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors, cGMP guidance, and other regulations governing company activities.
• To lead projects and deliver required outcomes in own specialist area.
• To lead, motivate and manage the performance and output of the Biological Services Team and ensure that all team objectives are met in agreed timescales.
• To manage and enhance specialist databases
• To maintain and develop the local standard operating procedures to secure effective working practices as well as compliance with relevant national, European and US legislation.
• To provide all types of information as required to internal services, eg HR, Finance etc.
• To set, monitor and report on agreed Key Performance Indicators for the Biological Services Team and provide solutions if KPI is are not being met.
• To lead the development and implementation of an ongoing Health & Safety Plan for the team to secure the right level of performance, highlight failures and make recommendations for solutions.
• To identify and recommend new business opportunities to members of CMT and others.
• To coach and mentor management members of Biological Services team to assist them to meet the work objectives and targets.
• To contribute to publications in national and international journals
