You will be responsible for designing and carrying out phage display selections, screening and characterisation of outputs in order to identify lead Affimer therapeutic candidates. You will be responsible for developing a range of cell based/binding assays to support Affimer screening, characterise our lead molecules for biological functionality and to support our pre-clinical assay development/cell biology needs. This role will suit someone who has experience in screening and characterising protein fragment technologies or antibodies for therapeutic applications. A BSc or higher in cell or molecular biology or another relevant subject focusing on immunology or oncology •Hands on experience of working with and developing assays for therapeutic protein scaffolds or antibodies •Be able to demonstrate a strong ability to develop target binding (e.g. RBA, ELISA, Alpha-screen and HTRF) and phenotypic based assays (phosphorylation, cell proliferation etc.) using a range of techniques (e.g. Western blot, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and IHC) •Experience of isolating, working with and maintaining primary cell lines in culture •Being able to carry out mammalian transfections with plasmid DNA and maintain transient or stable mammalian cell lines Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience Fantastic career opportunities State of the art facilities

You will be responsible for Cloning, expressing, purifying and characterising Affimer proteins for protein characterisation work, binding studies and stability testing using a range of different expression platforms (bacterial, Pichia or mammalian cells). You will also need to be comfortable Presenting work/data at internal group or company meetings when required. You will have: A BSc or higher in protein biochemistry, protein engineering, molecular biology or another relevant subject. (Senior scientist would need lab experience working with therapeutic protein scaffolds or antibodies) Standard DNA manipulation/cloning techniques and protein engineering including working with a range of protein expression platforms (bacterial, Pichia and mammalian) Mammalian cell culture - culturing and maintaining cell lines, transfections for protein production. The Group Leader will be involved in a range of internal platform development and commercial projects, predominantly focused on establishing novel AAV vectors, stable viral packaging cell lines/bioproduction systems, and running a commercial batch production function through a sub-team. The company have a number of on-going programmes and collaborations in this area, and multiple government supported grant awards, which the recipient will contribute towards. Prior experience in engineering AAV vectors is essential, as is a detailed knowledge of AAV vector biology, production and characterisation methodologies. Group Leaders are expected to take a scientific and technical leadership role, while providing support and training to Scientists and technicians working in the group. The position will involve extensive interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to show commitment to scientific development and innovation are considered essential.
