The Design Engineer will be part of a cross-functional team, responsible for the design, CAD, prototyping and early stage process engineering for the optical elements of 3rd party AR / VR applications. This is a customer facing role and requires excellent communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate should have experience of designing precision plastic components, complex mechanisms with electronic actuation and control, and optical components will be a distinct advantage. This role will not suit a sedentary manager and requires an individual that has drive, passion and a hands on/ lead by example approach. The position requires you to have a broad knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, and the suppliers of equipment to deliver these. The process challenge will require working with precision components and processes to tight tolerances in a clean room environment. You will be expected to manage a small team of engineers and to lead process characterization in parallel with engineering concept design, and then to specify, procure and modify process equipment.
